28.08.14 2014 Sunshine Coast Art Prize announced

More good news; Servo (state 3) has been selected by respected Director of Queensland Art Gallery, Gallery of Modern Art, Chris Saines as the winner of the 2014 Sunshine Coast Art Prize. In awarding the prize, Chris said, "Mathew de Moiser’s Servo (state 3) was the most visually compelling and pictorially resolved work in the Prize. It was the work that I kept coming back to; the work which excited my interest the most. I wanted to know more about it. I still do, and I am still looking at it and thinking about it. That’s what a good work does, it invites and it rewards your curiosity. How it is made, what is it trying to say and what might it mean."

15.03.14 Temporary Agency

The Temporary Agency SATURDAY SYMPOSIUM is an afternoon mix of artists exploring what constitutes “productive” time, what value can be derived from a seemingly absurd task, and if a cohesive narrative can emerge from many individual contributions. The experimental program includes responses from Ria Green, Lydia Emma Heath, Matthew de Moiser, Ceri Hann, Gerard Drew, Beck Harris, Oli Kowald, Herve Senot and Lizzy Sampson working off the Random Assignment Database (R.A.D).

For Temporary Agency I performed a reading of $1.67 - a kind of outsourced spontaneous prose written by 25 microtaskers from around the world.

27.05.13 The Green Room at Design EX

Get along to designEX 2013 this week to see Green Magazine's 'green room' featuring some great sustainable art and design from the magazine including laminate paintings by Matthew de Moiser. "Material re-use is something of a family tradition" says Matthew, "my grandparents migrated to Australia as Estonian refugees and built their first home out of timber packing crates from the Geelong Ford factory. Although these works (the laminate 'paintings') look like landscape paintings, they are in fact assemblages made from laminex off-cuts".

Exhibition runs from Thursday 30th May until Saturday 1st June.
